FAQ
What is counseling like?
In our first session, you'll get to share what your concerns are that bring you into counseling. The second session is when we begin to explore in more depth the issues, obstacles and solutions. Above all, I want clients to feel safe and comfortable and believe therapy is a team effort.

Do I need counseling?
You don't need to have major mental health concerns to benefit from counseling! If you are experiencing any issues with mood, your relationships, or any of the topics previously listed (see areas of expertise), and even those not listed, you are welcome to try therapy! I always share the example of taking care of your car. We put gas in our car, get an oil change, or have it inspected. Point is, we don't wait till our car breaks down before we take care of it. I believe we are worthy of taking care of ourselves, our mental health and our relationships and these things may require a level of attention, care and maintenance. Therapy is one way to improve self care and quality of life.

What insurances do you take and what if I don't have insurance?
I currently accept the following plans: Capital Blue, Anthem, some other Blue Cross or Blue Shield plans, Highmark, UPMC Health Plan, United Behavioral Health/OPTUM, and some EAPs. If you do not have insurance or do not wish to use your insurance, I accept self pay. Rates and forms of payment can be discussed before our first session.

What does counseling look like during Covid-19?
Due to the Coronavirus, I am currently holding sessions via telehealth only. This means through a HIPAA compliant video platform or telephone. We can discuss which option best suits you.
